چکیده

Abstract Background The effectiveness of lumbar total disc replacement (TDR) with different prostheses for sagittal alignment has been reported previously. However, there are only few reports on Activ L TDR and no specific evidence regarding whether affects the clinical outcomes. Methods Eighty-seven patients who underwent mono- or bi-segmental were studied. films upright anteroposterior lateral spine in neutral, flexion, extension positions obtained before surgery at 1 month 3 years after surgery. radiographic parameters such as lordosis (LL), index level (IL), pelvic incidence (PI), tilt (PT), segmental (SL), sacral slope (SS) measured based radiographs. Clinical outcomes evaluated using Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) visual analog scale (VAS) pre- post-operatively. Results complete data available a 3-year follow-up period. Of these, 66 received single-level TDR, 21 2-level TDR. At month, mean LL was similar to pre-operative then significantly increased 45.1° years. On average, IL tended increase, while SL L–5 from 16.5° pre-operatively 21.0° L1–2, L2–3, L3–4, L5–S1; PI; PT; SS showed obvious difference In contrast, VAS ODI scores significant improvement Conclusions favorable effect alignment, enhancing preserving SS. satisfactory results over not affected by alignment.

On total disc replacement.

Low back pain consumes a large part of the community's resources dedicated to health care and sick leave. Back disorders also negatively affect the individual leading to pain suffering, decreased quality-of-life and disability. Chronic low back pain (CLBP) due to degenerative disc disease (DDD) is today often treated with fusion when conservative treatment has failed and symptoms are severe. Th...

Lumbar total disc replacement: a numerical study.

AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical effects of the Maverick(R) disc prosthesis at the implanted and adjacent level by the finite element (FE) method. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 3D FE model of the L3-L5 segment was built. To simulate the different physiological movements (flexion, extension, lateral bending, axial rotation) pure moments of 10 Nm were applied. To evaluate t...

Physical capability outcomes after total disc replacement with ProDisc-L

BACKGROUND Lumbar disc arthroplasty (total disc replacement [TDR]) outcomes have been evaluated using subjective, patient-reported measures of pain, health, and functional impairment. As a condition of TDR coverage, our institution's health plan required that objective physical performance data be collected. Thus our study was designed to explore (1) the feasibility of using preoperative and 1-...
